Gmail Push
GPush, developed by Tiverias Apps, is a 99 cent application available in the iTunes Apps Store. Once downloaded and installed, the application will instantly show emails sent to a user’s Gmail account as soon as they arrive.
The application can be tied into the iPhone’s notification systems for incoming messages, including vibrate alerts and ring tones. The application will display the number of unread messages received, as well as let users see previews of incoming emails, displaying the sender’s name and subject headings.
In a prepared statement, Eliran Sapir, Co-founder of Tiverias Apps, said, “The lack of push Gmail on my iPhone is the one feature that made me want to switch back to my Blackberry. With GPush, I can continue using my iPhone with no worries of when my next email will arrive.”
To be honest, when I first switched from a BlackBerry to the iPhone back in 2007, I very nearly gave up on the iPhone due to the lack of push email for Gmail. I downloaded the application this morning and gave it a shot. It really does what Tiverias claims it will.
For Gmail users, it is worth all 99 pennies.
